The Jagiellonian University, founded in 1364, is the oldest higher education institution in Poland and one of the oldest in Europe.

Some of the students and academics at Jagiellonian University were important historical figures, including famous researchers such as Nicolaus Copernicus or Karol Olszewski and Karol Wojtyła.

Today, the Jagiellonian University comprises 16 faculties, where nearly 4,000 teaching staff are conducting research and providing education to more than 40,000 students across over 80 different study areas. Eminent researchers and state-of-the-art infrastructure make this university one of the most important Polish scientific institutions, working with large academic centers around the world. The Jagiellonian University also hosts approximately 150 student companies, where young researchers pursue their academic interests and develop friendships with people who share their passion.
