IntegralEdu introduced Alexandra (age 7) from the 1st grade to the requirements and the way to get to the top high schools and universities in Western Europe. For four years, Alexandra went to English-language camps in the UK with academic subjects, when it was possible with an international exam included.

Three years in a row, Alexandra spent 3 weeks in Germany for 3 weeks to learn German intensively. A summer in China to strengthen Chinese language and another summer in England to prepare for admission to high school.

Alexandra did sports, learned four foreign languages, English, Chinese, German and French (at school), played guitar, and got involved in IT projects (coding and robotics). At the same time, the international experience, personal development and maturity of the learning process helped her come in when it was needed at the Sava National College (Mathematics - Informatics) to successfully graduate Class IX and X.

How's your life changed since you got there?

First of all, I became very responsible, probably more responsible than if I were in Romania. Another thing would be that I always have to hurry. When you live in a city so big as London and so busy and bullying you can not 'take your time'. I can not say I'm 'bored' and there really is not a thing to do. There are a lot of things you can do but most of the time you do not have money to do or you do not have time. Since lying in London, I have never had enough money, and the quality of my life is far inferior to what I would have had as a student in Romania. But the most important thing is stress. All of this, plus faculty, is a fairly high stress and is the first thing you need to consider when deciding to study abroad.
What is your timetable like? Do you have time for fun? Any spicy story we can share with everyone?

In the first year we had amusement time, we had about 15 hours of lectures a week, 2 laboratories 2-3 hours a week, and the standards were not very high. This year I think they tripled the standards because I'm staying at 10am to 10pm at college (after 1 o'clock I'm at the library if I do not have a lab) and they're still behind. Last year I went out every week, if not 2-3 times a week, I'm just out of town to eat once a week and I've been in the club three times a year. So wait for drastic changes after the first year. There are students on my course who go every day to the library without free days so brace yourself.

Do you put into practice what you learn? Do you think that what you learn at college can help you on the labor market after you finish it?

At first, the theory is emphasized because if you do not master the theory very well you can not understand original research articles. After year 2 you have many projects where you can put into practice what you learn next to the license project. You also have the chance to get some experience during the summer if you manage to find an internship. I want to conclude that most of the internships in biostiinte are 2 months in the summer and are generally not paid so they add a lot to the costs.

I really feel well prepared for what I want to do and I noticed that in general my colleagues are very well prepared. However, this degree is 100% research oriented, but only 1/3 of graduates continue in research and probably the rest of the students entering the labor market will not benefit so much from what they learn in college.

At the end of my first year of studying A-levels at Oxford's d'Overbroeck's college, I was able to look back on my course that year and honestly declare it was the most beautiful of my life! The opportunities and experiences that my study opened at a high school in the UK have been incredible and have helped me to evolve enormously both academically and personally.

The atmosphere of the college, the level of attention paid to each student, the adaptability of the program to personal aspirations - all played a big part in facilitating a quick adaptation to the new system and the attainment of my potential.

The British system was right for me. It allowed me to focus on my passions and study them in depth, always being challenged to exceed my limits. The small number of pupils in a class allowed more interaction between teachers and pupils. Also, more dynamism in organizing classes has made the learning and teaching process more enjoyable.

The 4 topics I chose at A-levels were History, Mathematics, Politics and Economics, my goal being to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University. Besides, the school offered me the opportunity to do an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) project that allowed me to deepen a subject of my choice: I focused on populist manifestations. I also enrolled in the Oxbridge training program, which was very well done by school. I received additional guidance and information as well as extra training courses.

In all these decisions, my school manager, who plays the role of a schoolteacher and who you meet "one to one" once a week, has been supported by me. Also, the level of communication with the student, but also with my parents seemed very useful, a continuous feedback, but also an always available source of guidance. The Director of Studies plays a very important role here. This allowed me to organize myself academically, optimize college choices, and keep my enthusiasm and high morale, even in more difficult moments!
